Moosewalk Studios

Moosewalk Studios is the creative domain of award-winning watercolorist Gary Eckhart and fine art photographer Roarke Sharlow. Located within the Moosewalk Gallery, the studios provide the opportunity to see where and how the art is created while viewing completed works hanging on the walls.

Gary’s painting station with the assortment of brushes, drawing implements and archival paints awaits immediately inside the entry door. The most current watercolor-in-progress is usually laid out for viewing and Gary readily demonstrates his techniques and answers questions about his popular, representational watercolors.

Roarkes Photo Lab

Roarke's Photo Lab

Roarke’s studio, sequestered in it’s own room adjacent to the main gallery, consists of both a wet and a dry lab. Roarke uses the traditional, darkroom/wet lab to produce the silver gelatin prints and to work in his non-traditional photograph techniques, some dating back to the mid-1800’s. His dry/digital lab houses a state-of-the-art, archival color printer. Explanations of the operations of both labs are always available.

Moosewalk studios is home to the annual workshops offered by Gary and Roarke as part of the Vermont Festival of the Arts held each year during the month of August.

The studios are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (except holidays or by appointment) but are open most other days from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. Shows and involvement with the Vermont Festival of the Arts may cause us to close unexpectedly. A call to confirm times (802.583.2224) or schedule a studio visit is suggested. Other times of the year are by appointment only.
